How to Skip Characters While Reading Integers Using scanf() in C

Ever wondered how to skip unwanted characters like commas, spaces or symbols while taking multiple integer inputs in C?
That's where format specifiers in scanf() come to the rescue.

In this tutorial, you'll learn how to:
Accept integer values from a string that includes other characters (like 10,20,30)
Use scanf() to skip those extra characters and only read the integers

Practical Implementations:

#include <stdio.h> int main() { int a, b, c; // Ask the user to input values with commas (or any separators) printf("Enter three integers separated by commas (e.g., 10,20,30): "); // Skip commas while reading input scanf("%d,%d,%d", &a, &b, &c); // Display the values printf("You entered: %d, %d, %d\n", a, b, c); return 0; }

Output:
Enter three integers separated by commas (e.g., 10,20,30): 25,50,75
You entered: 25, 50, 75

Description:
In this program, we want the user to enter three numbers, but instead of typing them with spaces, we allow them to separate the numbers using commas. The format string "%d,%d,%d" in scanf() tells the compiler to read an integer, expect and skip a comma and repeat this pattern.

This way, if the user types 25,50,75, the program reads all three values correctly, ignoring the commas in between. This trick is handy when you're reading data that's structured like CSV (Comma-Separated Values) or user input in a more formatted style."

19. Write a C program to convert specified days into years, weeks and days. Note: Ignore leap year.

21.Write a C program that accepts two item's weight and number of purchases (floating point values) and calculates their average value.

22.Write a C program that accepts an employee's ID, total worked hours in a month and the amount he received per hour. Print the ID and salary (with two decimal places) of the employee for a particular month.
Test Data :
Input the Employees ID(Max. 10 chars): 0342
Input the working hrs: 8
Salary amount/hr: 15000
Expected Output:
Employees ID = 0342
Salary = U$ 120000.00

23.Write a C program that accept an students roll number and six subject markes, find total and average marks.

24.Write a C program that accepts an employee's ID, basic salary in a month and calculate total salary.
The formulat for
Total salary=(basic salary-tax)+House Rent allowance+Bonus+Traveling allowance+other allowance
tax 10% of basic salary
House Rent allowance 17% of basic salary
Bonus 7% of basic salary
Traveling allowance 8% of basic salary
other allowance 10% of basic salary
25.Write a C program to convert a given integer (in days) to years, months and days, assuming that all months have 30 days and all years have 365 days.
Test Data :
Input no. of days: 2535
Expected Output:
6 Year(s)
11 Month(s)
15 Day(s)

2. C program to find sum of the all natural numbers from 1 to N.
Series: 1+2+3+4+..N
3.C program to find the sum of Natural Number/Factorial of Number of all natural numbers from 1 to N.
Series: 1/1! + 2/2! + 3/3! + 4/4! + ... N/N!
4) C program to find sum of following series:
1+ 1/2 + 1/3 + 1/4 + 1/5 + .. 1/N
5) C program to find sum of following series:
